Do your little tykes need to burn off some energy? Spring Creek Open Gym is now running on Wednesdays at Spring Creek Community School from 3-5 pm. Cost is $2 per child (over 6 months). Children have a big space to run off some steam with toddler cars, parachute games, mini basketball, hoola hoops, bowling & more!

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS WHO LOVE KIDS!

Moving Mountains is looking for a volunteer for the “Open Gym” at Creekside Elementary School. The volunteer would act, as a greeter/safety reminder at the door and to help our coordinator to oversee the “open gym”. We would need a couple volunteers to start immediately until the end of this year’s program in June.

WHO: VOLUNTEERS
WHAT: GREETER/SAFETY REMINDER
WHEN: EVERY MONDAY FROM 3-5 UNTIL THE END OF JUNE
WHERE: CREEKSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

As a door greeter your job will be to:

-greet all families who attend
-ask everyone to sign in
-remind them to make a donation; now increased to $5.00 per family per visit
-let them know that their children MUST be wearing indoor shoes with sticky soles
-they need to be in CLOSE proximity to their children at all times,
-all cars need to stay on the left side of the gym.
-You will politely ask them to review the information posted on the easel, and to have fun with their children.

*If there is any time in between arrivals and departures, please circulate and chat with parents if it does not distract from the supervision of their children*

When families are leaving you should ask:
-how the gym time went,
-whether they had any questions or concerns,
-if they have any suggestions for how to improve the program or safety.

Below are the following dates that we need a volunteer to act as door greeter from
April 11, April 18, May 2, May 9, May 16, May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20

Please email info@movingmountainsforchildren or call Melissa at 604-902-9099

Music Together Program

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for preschool children. It is based on the recognition that all children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat and participate with confidence. Music is learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique style of very young children. Parents  or caregivers participate with the children.

Central to the Music Together approach is that young children learn best from the powerful role model of parents/caregivers who are actively making music. The program brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and by facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context of daily life.

Music Together is committed to helping families, caregivers, and early childhood professionals rediscover the pleasure and educational value of informal music experiences. All our teachers have successfully completed Music Together’s training program. Music Together applies the latest research in early childhood music development to the program. A curriculum pioneer since 1987.

Moving Mountains for Children has subsidized over $4000 to bring this program to fruition. Funds have gone towards formal teacher training, licensing and provision of instruments. For more information and to register, please visit www.whistlerisrecreation.com
